MOD Devices Dwarf, a new open source multi-effects with hundreds of available plugins

After the launch and good reception of the previous Quadra and Duo pedalboards from Mod Devices , the company founded by Gianfranco Ceccolini in Brazil in 2014, and now based in Berlin, has just started a campaign in Kickstarter to present its new MOD Dwarf . With such success that they have managed to finance the project in a single day exceeding € 100,000 of the objective they had set for a whole month.

Like its predecessors, this MOD Dwarf is an open source system that combines an analog-digital hybrid hardware and an intuitive graphical interface, with great processing power capable of accommodating a wide range of effects, virtual instruments, amplifier simulators and MIDI utilities, with hundreds of free and commercial plugins created by independent developers, and ready to download from a catalog that keeps growing.

Right now there are 45 amplifiers, 70 screens, more than 180 effects, and dozens of virtual instruments and MIDI utilities ready to install. Not counting several hundreds of beta-phase plugins that will be added progressively.

The Dwarf MOD engine is a 64-bit Quad-core ARM CPU running at 1.3GHz, with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage, of which its creators ensure that it does not have the restrictions on the number of modules that you can run at the same Time as with other multi-effects: "Do you want three delays, four pitch shifters, five distortions and three amplifiers in the same patch? No problem . " Says its director Gianfranco Ceccolini.

The device has two independent audio channels , each equipped with separate gain controls, to which we can assign any effect and modify / rewind the signal path easily from a smartphone, tablet or computer . In live we can also edit the effects without a computer using its screen, the 3 assignable potentiometers and buttons, and the 3 footswitch, and use the MOD as a multi-effect pedalboard tailored to our needs.

Although originally designed with guitarists and bassists in mind, the numerous connections of the unit (dual / stereo inputs and outputs, USB, MIDI, headphone output ...), allow you to connect keyboards, synthesizers, microphones, sequencers, drum machines and Even MP3 players.
